Who's Richard?

I am a design and statistics alum from Carnegie Mellon University. My favorite things—computer graphics, technical art, interaction design, etc—all come back to being interdisciplinary. Whether it's sewing, soldering, or software, I love tinkering with it all.

Currently, I'm playing ultimate frisbee and dialing in my snickerdoodle technique. Always looking for new tools, new obsessions, and new inspirations. More about me on my resume/CV here.

What's an interactive developer?

I am currently an interactive developer at Active Theory. We build best-in-class interactive WebGL websites and installations for clients like Google, Nike, Spotify, and more. Our installations are featured at Google I/O, SXSW, and CES.

As an interactive developer, I specialize in technical art, real-time rendering, and blending 3D technologies into our frontend applications. Our goal is to bring a creative vision, delightful moment, or a specific interaction to life. Sometimes that means standard front-end development, other times it could involve building tools for geometry and texture processing, AI integration, or WebGL-based techniques.
